Beautiful grounds and friendly and knowledgeable staff who go out of their way for guests... we went during the rainy season and saw the volcano the first day however the views and sounds every morning were still amazing and unforgettable... we felt like we were the only ones there...very private rooms and patios...secure...so many tours and activities to choose from and are easily arranged for you...can' t wait to go back...

Bottom line:
This is a very nice hotel to stay at - good location with friendly helpful staff and nice facilities. The breakfasts were very good. I was a bit disappointed with the dinner - I ordered the best steak and it was tough and frankly not as nice looking as the lesser ones...
In particular the folks at the front desk and those that drive you around were very friendly and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Arenal Springs. The rooms were very nice and we enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the birds and volcano every morning. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. We were a group of 11 and there was something for all of us.

Facilities: Very nice, clean... Location: Excellent (notwithstanding the unpaved road to get there)... The breakfast buffet: Tasty... But what left me and my family with a bad taste in our mouths was how we were treated at the front counter at check in. We arrived at the hotel (after a bumpy and curvy 5 hour drive) shortly before 2 p.m. because the hotel website stated that check-in was at 2. At the counter, however, the reception employees told us they were too busy turning over rooms, and check-in would be at 3. They said we should have known check-in was at 3, even though the website said 2. They insisted check-in was at 3! They said we'd have to wait another hour for a 4-year-old kid and his very pregnant mother to be able to rest in a room. After we told them (over and over) that check-in was at 2, according to the hotel's own publicity, they finally found a room for us. It shouldn't have been such a hassle, it shouldn't have taken an argument, to check-in at the time stated on the website.

We liked your hotel very much. Our stay was too short, we requested a three night stay but you were booked. We were just glad that you could accomodate when you could.
thanks,

Bottom line:
We stayed in November 2006, and loved the quiet location off the busy road around Arenal, and the friendly staff. Four couples in our late 20's and early 30's spent four days at Arenal Springs, and found it the perfect home base for exploring the Hot Springs at Tabacon, taking canopy tours, and hiking and horseback riding around the volcano.
The staff was super-helpful in planning excursions. The food at the restaurant was good, but it was also a quick drive into La Fortuna for dinner at a bunch of local restaurants. The rooms were clean, full of natural light, and had great porches with rocking chairs to read a book during the day and watch the volcano at night. The mature landscaping between the individual rooms added privacy to the porches.
We found and booked a reduced rate online, but even the normal rate through the resort would have been a good deal, in our opinion. After exploring a number of other resorts/hotels in the area, we'd definitely stay here again!
