Hotel reviews
This is a lovely looking hotel as you drive up to it and we had booked on the internet. W arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly young woman and we requested that we see the room that they would be renting to us explaining that as we had booked online it is a good idea to see first hand what you are renting. There was no language issue and I dont believe short of the dishonesty of getting a higher rate for the night there was no misunderstanding. We decided upon seeing the room we believed to be ours that it was lovely and yes we would take it for the duration of our stay in La Fortuna. Upon hearing this they gladly whisked us and our luggage to a much inferior room and then demanded another $100 a night for the room that we had seen previous. Needless to say we left and wanted nothing more to do with whole situation which had become quite rude on the behalf of the innkeepers. We are not sure if the fact we had rented online was the problem or if it was who was on the desk.It was not pleasant and as we love Costa Rica and have spent a lot of time here and made some lifelong friends were surprised at the dishonesty of the innkeepers at this hotel we have not expeirenced that here before. So be clear on what you are renting for what rate.

Bottom line:
The first 2 nights of our honeymoon were spent at Mountain Paradise, this is a very nice place. The room is awesome and the way the rooms are set up is very nice. The only concern was that the food was a bit too fancy for our liking, we had a small appetizer, medium meal and one alcoholic drink each and the bill came over $100... Not really something to be doing every night. Other than that, we really enjoyed ourselves there.

Bottom line:
My husband and I took our family to Costa Rica for our first time, in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. Our first four nights were spent at Mountain Paradise Hotel. We were treated like royalty from the time we arrived, until we left. Our rooms and views were spectacular. All of our meals were delicious and the service was unbelievable! The food and beverage manager, Ivan, as well as the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make our 25th, and our stay there, the most memorable time of our lives. I was treated to the best full body massage I've ever had.(compliments of the hotel) We met the owners, who were wonderful people. Every one there was. It was very sad to leave, but we will definitely be back! We would highly reccomend Mountain Paradise to everyone. It really was Paradise!! Kirk, Gail Brittany, Logan, and Samantha

Bottom line:
We left our hotel to attend one of the tours that the hotel offers to return and find that our computer had beentaken from our room. The hotel gave us little to NO help. No police report was filed. They implied that we were lieing!!!!!!!That told us we should have put our valuables in the safe. However the safe is not big enough for a laptop computer. So watch out there is a theft amoung them.

Bottom line:
This hotel has to be the best place to stay. We stayed 7 nights & would have liked to have extended our stay. I can't say enough about the staff & how friendly & helpful they were. They would do anything to make you more comfortable & always asked how your day had been. By the end of the week they seemed like family. The owner is also on site everyday & was always so nice & even let us use his office phone to call back to the states. The grounds are gorgeous & the rooms are so spacious & modern. They were spotless everyday & the personal outdoor jacuzzi was a plus. The pools are very nice & they keep them really warm!! The restaurant is first rate & we ate there sometimes twice a day plus breakfast. We will definitely be returning to this hotel...hopefully this March.
