convenient, modern, great hotel
The hotel, although situated,on a main road managed to be very beautiful and private. The rooms are very modern and clean, the linens are soft, robes are waiting for you. We ate lunch outside by the pools and breakfast and the food was very good. The pools/ thermal baths were very warm and inviting and a great escape after hiking and touring in the Arenal area. The view of the volcano was excellent. It is not a typical Costa Rican place (very American in its style) but very nice rooms and the convenience of being on a main road is important compared with many resorts that are off of long bumpy unpaved roads

Great Hotel but expensive for value
Great Hotel, clean, friendly staff, probably 4 star would be fine (I believe it is advertised and priced as a 5 star).
The hotel does not have a gym, the restaurant staff is friendly, but not quite 5 star service. I would give 8 points out of 10.
We paid $250/night, one king bed. The Four Seasons at Papagayo is $295 to $316 for a similar room, but with much better facilities and service.
It is the only upper scale hotel in the area so for that reason may be worth staying (no real competition).
The room should be priced at 180-190/night, which would reflect the value and make it a really great experience!
