Better then we ever expected

We took this tour on our first day of vacation. We were both excited to see the river, but our guide made the hike excellent.

Jairo- out guide - was very impressive in his knowledge and understanding of the rain forest. He was eager to share his understanding of not only the area we were in, but the areas we would travel to later in our trip. He helped us recognize bird calls and even pointed out different crops we passed along the drive. He shared a lot about Costa Rican culture as well, which is above and beyond our expectations. We could both tell he genuinely cares about human and forest interaction and how to visit the rain forest without impacting the flora and fauna. He was careful in explaining what to expect on the hike before we left and made sure we were both prepared mentally and physically (with proper hiking gear).

Our driver - Alberto- was very friendly. He knew we were both excited to see all the CR wildlife so he pulled over every time he spotted an animal. He was even able to spot an Anteater in a tree. A real treat for us. He was a very safe and courteous driver which made the ride smooth and stress free.

The food at the restaurant was great and all the people working at the resort were very friendly. We both had the fish casados with their home raised talapia. The mixed fruit juice they made was the best on our trip.

We both enjoyed entering the park through a less-then-main entrance. It allowed us to stay away from the crowds and get to see the beautiful gardens leading up to the path. Jairo helped us identify a few types of humming birds buzzing around in the sun.

Next time we are in LaFortuna we will definitely book again in hopes of hiking to the caldera on the volcano.
