Jaco is located in the province of Puntarenas in Costa Rica. It is one of the most visited destinations in our country and has a big popularity by surf lovers. In fact, distinguished events related to this exciting sport have been organized, like the World Surfing Games Costa Rica 2009. Jaco is a coastal town that belongs to Garabito that has approximately 7 thousand residents. Nowadays the tourism is the main economic activity of the area, but in the past it was a town dedicated to fishing and everything derivative from the Sea. This destiny has grown up in the last decade and has become one of the most structured tourist places in Costa Rica where the investment has taken place. Now it has a variety of beach hotels and resorts, as well as many discotheques and restaurants. These make Jaco owns one of the most diverse night atmospheres in our beautiful country. Jaco beach boasts an international reputation nowadays. It is near the prestigious beach called Playa Hermosa, where the Surfing Championship 2009 was celebrated. Playa Jaco counts with a constant surge of 3 and 4 meters height. Jaco is seen as sun and sand destiny, but also it owns a great variety of nature and adventure activities for every one, such as: Botanical Gardens, Canopy, ATV Tour, Horseback riding, and of course all kind of Surfing lessons. All this just 1.5 hours from the Costa Rica?s capital, San Jos? and the International Airport Juan Santamaria. As nearby destinies to Jaco can be mentioned: Quepos (45 min), Manuel Antonio (1 hour), Alajuela (2 hours), Arenal (3.5 hours), Puntarenas (1.5 hours) and Monteverde (3.5 hours). Share:
