There are many services around La Fortuna de San Carlos.

Here some tips:

1) Taxis in Fortuna work from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., taxi station is located by the park, the thephone number is 479-9605.
Near to the taxi station, there are gipsy caps available 24 hrs.

2) Supermarkets open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

3) Most of the Shops and Souvenirs are opened from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

4) Bus Stop is located by the park, here you can take the buses to Tilarán, Ciudad Quesada & San Ramón. You don't need to buy a ticket in advance, you pay directly to the driver.

5) Drugstore is located by the taxi station and open until 8 p.m.

6) There are two Gas Stations available 24 hrs (Gasolinera Fortuna & Gasolinera La Cristalina).

7) Travel Checks are a safe way to carry money, BUT NOT all the places take it and if they take it you have to pay a comission. You can change travel ckecks directly at the bank with your passport, but any ways, you have to pay a comisión of 1%.

8) The best way to save money is buying a Calling Card VIAJERA 199, $ 8 approx, you can use it from all the telephone cabins and reuse it many times (you can talk for 25 minutes total approx).
Calling cards are available at the supermarkets.

9) Credit Cards are largely accepted as well as the US currency.
