Arenal Sloth Tour, La Fortuna Costa Rica

Observing wildlife is amazing; however, it is not as easy as visiting a zoo.

Our friends -Territorio de Perezosos- own a large property of tropical secondary forest; it is located only 10 minutes driving from La Fortuna downtown. In this place, many animals, birds, but in special the lovely sloth found out all leaves, fruits and insects they need to survive.

We will pick you up at your hotel in La Fortuna to guide you by some trails inside the mountain. We are going to discover the magical world of flora and fauna, and mainly the two or three-toed sloths that use to be hanging from the trees.

The hike takes 2.5 hours approximately; while this time, you will learn all regarding sloths, such as their Habits, Habitat, and Diet. Your guide knows a lot about nature, so, you will also gain knowledge of Birds, Caymans, Frogs, Toads and Medicinal plants that are part of this ecological trip.

Fresh local fruits will be waiting for you at the end of the activity.

We had a great time and learned so much. It was a very educational stroll through the private property and we saw sloths from the ground... Our guide had a great telescope to look through and see. Definitely not going to see one up close though as they live in the trees and sleep most of the time. Still had a great time. They provided fruit and waters after our tour. You should go!

Not enough sloth watching

We walked for 2 hours and saw sloths on their natural habitat - which is hanging high on trees - which means we barely got to see the actual animas. The guide shared his binoculars and was carrying a professional camera to take pictures which was helpful, but we were expecting to see sloths up close and all we saw were fur balls hanging far away s on the branches of the trees.

All my life wanted to be in the mountain and having the chance to see animals living on their habitat. I got this Tour and absolutely was the best way to come true my dream. With the guide of Jose, I saw 6 sloths only by the trails. Also, we found many birds and medical plants.
